You can tell this story is set to become an arcade style video game because of its retro-futuristic setting and fast paced action. Along the way they find a mysterious hatch and the three Sponge boys are transformed into creatures that feed off of anything living deep within the ocean. One night a huge wave arrives which completely destroys their feeders, forcing them to seek out a new location for their replenishment. The story centers around a boy named Sponge, who along with his friends enjoy a weekly fed in the ocean of their home. The more of these activities you perform during each stage, the more points you earn, and the more difficult the stage becomes the higher your score, the better leader you become. However, in order to gain the most gems you must eat, drink, and mine items. Although you do have a limited amount of lives when playing in the single player mode, each stage is designed to give you enough of a challenge so that you feel like you are never really alone. There are eight levels to the game, and each one is designed to test your reflexes and strategy skills as you attempt to make it from level to level. The man then sets off to find his missing friend who was taken away by the creature, and eventually joins up with a group of other survivors who also happen to be on vacation at the time.
